What Sponsorship Is
Some listings and placements on The Veteran Benefit Desk are sponsored, meaning the representative or business paid for the placement. Sponsorship helps fund the free educational content we publish. This disclosure explains what sponsorship does and does not mean. (FTC Endorsement Guides, 16 C.F.R. part 255).
What Sponsorship Does Not Buy
- It does not buy an endorsement. We do not endorse, recommend, or guarantee any sponsor or its services.
- It does not buy editorial influence. Sponsors do not write, edit, approve, or review our articles, rating explanations, calculators, or source citations.
- It does not buy the removal of other listings. A title or exclusivity placement grants a sponsor a banner and logo lockup only. Other accredited representatives and businesses keep their standard listings, so a basic listing is never bought out.
- It does not buy visitor data. Sponsors do not receive analytics tied to individual visitors.
How We Label Sponsors
Sponsored placements are labeled as “Sponsored” or “Featured” so you can distinguish them from editorial content. Accredited representative sponsors must maintain active VA accreditation under 38 C.F.R. section 14.629, and business sponsors must attest that they do not charge veterans to prepare or file VA claims.
Verify Accreditation
Always verify a representative's accreditation directly at the VA Office of General Counsel.
