What This Page Is
The Veteran Benefit Desk, operated by Aurelis LLC, uses a small number of trusted service providers (sometimes called sub-processors) to operate this website. A sub-processor is a company we engage that may process limited personal information on our behalf, only to provide the service we hired it for and under a written agreement. We publish the categories of these providers for transparency, consistent with the GDPR, Article 28 and the CCPA service provider rules, Cal. Civ. Code section 1798.140. As a security measure, we identify providers by category rather than by company name. You can request more detail about a specific provider through our Contact page, and we will respond as the law requires.
What We Collect in the First Place
We collect very little. Calculator inputs are processed to show your result on screen, results you save on this device stay in your browser, and you do not need an account to read the site. If you ask us to email an estimate, roadmap, or reminder, we store your email address and the figures needed to send it, as described in our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice. The personal information that may reach a sub-processor is limited to: an email address you give us for alerts or an emailed estimate, roadmap, or reminder, together with the figures in that message; the information an accredited representative or business submits to apply for a listing; an account login for an approved representative or business; payment details you enter with our payment processor; the text of a message you send through the contact form; and standard technical data such as an IP address in hosting logs.
Current Sub-processor Categories
- Cloud hosting and database infrastructure. Hosts the website and the managed database that stores site content, applications, accounts, and the records behind emailed estimates and alerts. Purpose: operate and secure the Service. Data: account and application records, emailed-estimate records, hosting logs.
- Payment processing. A PCI-DSS compliant payment processor handles payments for paid placements when billing is enabled. Purpose: payment processing. Data: payment and billing details you enter at checkout. We do not store full payment card numbers on the Service.
- Transactional email delivery. An email delivery provider sends transactional email when email delivery is enabled, such as a one time account password, an administrator sign-in code, an emailed estimate or reminder you requested, or a rate change alert. Purpose: email delivery. Data: recipient email address and message content.
- Error monitoring. An error monitoring provider captures technical error reports when monitoring is enabled, so we can find and fix problems. Purpose: reliability and security. Data: technical diagnostic data, which may include an IP address. Session replay and request-body capture are turned off.
- AI model provider. A large language model provider processes the text of a contact-form message to draft a reply that a member of our team reviews before anything is sent, and answers questions submitted by enterprise API customers over our released records. Purpose: drafting assistance and grounded question answering. Data: the message or question text only; we do not send the provider your name or email address, and we use the provider through a commercial API rather than a consumer product.
Some providers above are active only when the related feature is turned on. Where a provider is not enabled, no data flows to it.
Enterprise Customers
Enterprise and developer API customers receive a named sub-processor register as a schedule to their Data Processing Addendum, together with advance notice of additions and a right to object as that agreement provides. The categories above are the same providers described in that register.
International Transfers
Our providers process data in the United States. Information you submit to us from outside the United States is processed in the United States. We do not currently rely on any specific cross-border transfer mechanism such as Standard Contractual Clauses for information you submit directly to us; if that changes, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy.
Changes to This List
We may add, replace, or remove a sub-processor as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new Last Updated date on this page.
