Sources first, always
Every rating percentage, dollar amount, deadline, and rule on this site is drawn from a primary source: Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 38 of the United States Code, official VA rate tables, VA forms, or controlling court and Board decisions. We do not paraphrase a number from a forum post or another website and present it as fact. If we cannot point to the law or to VA's own pages for a figure, it does not go on the page.
How we verify every number
Every figure on the site links to the public source it came from, so you never have to take our word for it. You can open the regulation or the VA page and read it yourself. Our compensation math comes from the published VA rate tables and the combined ratings table in 38 CFR 4.25, not from an estimate. When we describe how VA rates a condition, we use the criteria as written in the rating schedule in 38 CFR Part 4, and we note when VA has amended a code.
How we keep it current
- Rate tables: reflect the current year, with prior years kept on the site for back pay and history.
- Links: citations point to official pages, and we repair any that break.
- Rating criteria: checked against the current regulation, with a visible note on any code VA has amended.
Pages carry a visible review date so you can see when a guide was last checked against the law.
Who stands behind this
Everything here is checked against primary sources before it goes live and kept current over time. We keep the people behind the desk in the background on purpose, because the credibility should come from the sources you can verify, not from a byline.
