How We Are Funded

The Veteran Benefit Desk, operated by Aurelis LLC, is supported by paid placements. Two kinds of paid placements appear on the site, and both are clearly labeled:

  • Accredited representative listings. VA-accredited attorneys, VA-accredited claims agents, and VSO representatives may pay for enhanced or featured listings in our directory.
  • Sponsored businesses. Commercial businesses that serve veterans (for example lenders, insurers, employers, and service providers) may pay for sponsored placements in the business directory and on relevant pages. Sponsored businesses are not VA-accredited representatives and do not assist with preparing or filing VA claims.

Clear Labeling and No Endorsement

We label paid placements as “Sponsored,” “Featured,” or with similar clear language so you can tell them apart from our editorial content. Consistent with the FTC Endorsement Guides, 16 C.F.R. part 255, a material connection (payment) exists between us and any advertiser whose placement is labeled. A paid placement is not an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee, or warranty by us of the advertiser or its products or services. We do not independently verify the quality of an advertiser's services beyond confirming, for businesses, that they do not charge veterans to prepare or file VA claims.

Editorial Independence

Paid placements never determine our editorial content, ratings explanations, calculators, or which sources we cite. Advertisers do not receive analytics tied to individual visitors and do not control or review our editorial content before publication. See our Editorial Policy and Sponsor Disclosure.

Your Judgment

Always verify a representative's accreditation directly with VA at the VA Office of General Counsel and use your own judgment before engaging any advertiser or representative.
