Corrections policy
We correct factual errors promptly and transparently, and we keep a record of material changes to every article.
What we correct
Any factual error, whether in a headline, figure, name, date, quotation, attribution or characterization of a document, is corrected as soon as it is verified. We do not silently rewrite material factual errors.
How corrections appear
Material corrections receive a visible note on the article identifying what was wrong, what was corrected and the date of the correction. Clarifications, where the original was accurate but incomplete or open to misreading, are labeled as clarifications. Minor copy edits that do not change meaning do not require a note. Articles that are materially updated show a "Published" and an "Updated" date and a short update note, for example: "Update, Sept. 30, 2026: This article was updated to include VA's response to questions sent before publication."
How to report an error
Email support@veteranbenefitdesk.com with the subject line CORRECTION, the article URL, the passage in question and, where possible, the source that shows the error. This is a monitored general mailbox. Please do not send Social Security numbers, medical records, claim files, passwords or other sensitive personal information by email.
Research reports
Corrections to research reports follow the versioning and revision history shown on each report page; a news article based on a corrected report is corrected in step.
